Andy is a founder and managing director of Pequod. He has over 30 years experience in both prosecuting and defending maritime claims having worked at Lloyd’s of London, GARD P&I Club and latterly in the subrogation arena. He has considerable experience in dealing with a wide range of challenging issues, including cargo claims, salvage and GA, pollution, crew and stowaway issues, and ports & terminals disputes.
Over the years he has worked closely with a number of global trading groups and has particular knowledge of recovering on commodity claims ranging from bulk foodstuffs, through oil and chemicals, steel and project cargo.

Andy Hearn
Chief Operating Officer
Andy has worked as an agent with hundreds of insurers and has particular expertise in the account management of global cargo programmes.
As Chief Operating Officer for the Pequod Group, he has overall responsibility for the daily operation of the company.
Andy has worked as an agent with hundreds of different insurers globally and has particular expertise in account managing TPA programmes for global cargo accounts and has travelled extensively, in close liaison with insurers, brokers and assureds, in the development of various client-based online claims systems.

David Green
Director
David has worked in the recoveries business since 1986, rising to senior roles at both Willis and a leading London recovery agent, before becoming a co-founder of Pequod. He has experience in all facets of recovery work whether marine, haulage, airfreight or warehousing.
His depth of understanding and knowledge of the application of various international conventions, including the Hague-Visby Rules, Warsaw Convention (and all subsequent protocols) and CMR, makes him a leader in his field.
This expertise has served a number of major underwriting and broking clients in London, Continental Europe, Japan, South East Asia and Africa. His expertise encompasses recoveries on steel, reefer goods, bulk and breakbulk foodstuffs and much more.

John Clark
Director
John has over 20 years of experience in the London Insurance Market. After obtaining a degree in Marine Business with Maritime Law from the University of Plymouth, John gained experience at a Marine Insurance broking firm specialising in cargo and liability defence claims for freight companies carrying under CMR/RHA/UKWA and BIFA terms.
John subsequently worked for a leading London recovery agent for approximately 10 years, dealing with complex subrogation recovery issues for the Lloyd’s and IUA (International Underwriters Association) markets prior to joining Pequod Associates in August 2006.
He has extensive knowledge of the various international conventions and domestic legislation in relation to the carriage of goods by air, sea and road, including Hague-Visby Rules, CMR, Warsaw Convention and USCOGSA. John has broad experience of subrogation claims for all types of cargo.

Rob Sweeting
Director
Rob has worked in the marine insurance field since 1989 having started work as a marine claims adjuster for a global claims and recovery agent and then transferred to their casualty department dealing with GA and Salvage claims. In 1992 he moved to GARD P&I, London as a case handler dealing with all aspects of P&I claims worldwide.
After 10 years at GARD P&I, Rob joined a London based recovery agent before then moving to Xchanging Claims Services in 2007 handling recoveries for the Lloyd’s and IUA (International Underwriters Association) markets. He joined the team at Pequod Associates in 2008 and handles all types of recovery claims arising throughout the world, but with a focus on maritime losses, collisions, dock damage, GA and salvage claims.
Rob completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Maritime Law from Lloyd’s Maritime Academy / London University in 2009.

David Clark
Director
David qualified as a solicitor in the 1990s. As a result of having previously worked as in-house counsel for one of the largest independent oil traders, he now specializes in petroleum shipping and trading claims. He also handles cargo recovery claims involving both petroleum and other commodities, as well as port and terminal disputes.
Besides acting for the cargo insurance market, his clients include refiners, oil traders and oil majors whom he assists with their sale contract and charter party disputes (principally demurrage and additional freight claims). He also provides guidance on the drafting of tanker charter party additional terms.
David is a regular speaker on matters such as laytime and demurrage, interim port and STS clauses, petroleum loss and sale contract terms. David is a fluent French speaker.

Libby Smith
Director
Libby has over 30 years experience working in the Marine Insurance Market managing and negotiating claims for major global clients on behalf of insurers worldwide. Libby has experience in all types of cargo including Fruit, Clothing, Electronics, Pharmaceuticals, Motor Vehicles, and Personal Effects. Libby also handles Freight Liability as well as Aviation General Liability claims.
As a director Libby has the day to day responsibility for coordinating Pequod’s TPA claims operations in the UK and the USA offices, servicing a portfolio of clients as well as developing new business opportunities. Libby has also been instrumental in the design and implementation of Pequod’s internal database and reporting systems,
Libby’s interpersonal skills and her ability to build strong client relationships enables her to successfully meet the specific needs of both Insurers and Assureds. Libby prides herself in ensuring Pequod deliver prompt and efficient claims management in order to achieve the desired result.
