Juan holds a Master’s of Science in International Transportation Management from SUNY Maritime College and has worked in marine insurance since 2007. He joined Pequod Associates USA LLC in April 2012 after gaining experience with a global marine claims and settling agency. He has worked closely with a varied number of global clients and Fortune 100 organizations, including major electronics manufacturers, global commodities traders, international food and beverage companies along with a number of Latin American based clients. He has broad knowledge of all types of marine cargo and liability claims procedures in the USA, Canada, Mexico and throughout Central & South America. Juan is fluent in both English and Spanish and has spent a great deal of time as a Spanish liaison when dealing with Underwriters, Assureds, and Local correspondents in Central and South America, with projects including translations, full claims management, process integration and file auditing. He is also responsible for the day to day handling of recovery files and has been involved in Pequod USA’s business development.

Joe has over 35 years of comprehensive experience/knowledge of Marine Insurance Claims handling and all related matters. He has held numerous positions of authority within the Marine Claims arena, most recently as a Senior Vice President / Marine Claims Manager for Hugh Wood Inc. Prior to that he was the Director of Marine Claims for Hilb, Rogal & Hobbs / HRH / Willis, the President of Technical Claims Services, Inc. (TCS), Senior Vice President at Aon Risk Services’ Marine Technical Services Department and Assistant Claims Manager for Sanko Kisen (U.S.A.) Corp.
He has had responsibility for direct assistance of brokerage teams, as well as marine adjusters and related staff, with extensive experience handling major marine casualties including Hull & Machinery, Cargo, P&I claims including – FFO, Fines, FDD, Charter Party disputes, Crew and other Personal Injury claims.

As a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States Joe has served on the Committee on Carriage of Goods and the Committee on Maritime Personal. He has been an Industry Speaker and a serving member of the Association of the Average Adjusters of the United States, and the Marine Insurance Claims Association.

Elliot joined Pequod Associates USA LLC in 2019 as the Claims Manager, further expanding Pequod’s adjusting presence in the USA. He has experience in various insurance industries including marine liabilities and hull and machinery.

Elliot has spent the past 21 years as a claim’s adjuster working for a global claim and settling agency, international insurance brokers and claims firm. He is experienced with working directly with insurers, insureds and brokers on individual and account-based losses.

Andrew joined Pequod in 2018 after spending the last 8 years working exclusively on the surveying side of the marine insurance business, during which time he was able to develop a global network of accredited surveying partners.

Andrew’s role at Pequod is to develop new business of all lines, while being responsible for managing the surveying side of our new 15/15 platform.

Andrew has over 20 years experience working in the insurance industry, including time as an adjuster, broker and leader in marketing and business development.

Dick joined Pequod Associates USA LLC in 2020 as a Senior Claims Handler, further expanding Pequod’s adjusting presence in the USA. He has experience in various insurance industries that include maritime, property and energy.Dick has spent the past 15 years as a claim’s adjuster working for a global claim and settling agency, international insurance companies, and a global risk management and claims firm. He is experienced with working directly with insurers, insureds and brokers on individual and account-based losses.Dick will also be bringing his IT expertise to Pequod.
